Read 718 is committed to closing the literacy gap in Brooklyn. It provides high quality literacy instruction and mentorship to public school students who read at least two years below grade level. Read 718's immediate goal is for participants to read at or above grade level; their ultimate goal is to make a substantial impact on students' education and life outcomes by strengthening fundamental reading skills.
WellMet's grant of $25,000 will be used for general operating support. to continue programming in 718's current location and to expand into its second site.
