Emma’s Torch

Culinary training and job placement for refugees

We are deeply grateful for WellMet Philanthropy's generous support of our mission.

Emma’s Torch is a nonprofit social enterprise that operates its own restaurant in Brooklyn serving New American cuisine prepared by new American students. It offers an eight week, paid apprenticeship program providing refugees with culinary training, ESL classes, interview preparation and job placement. Students are referred by caseworkers from refugee resettlement agencies and all have legal work authorization.
WellMet’s $25,000 grant will be used to support the Culinary Apprenticeship program.
