Friends of Island Academy 2009

Friends addresses problems facing 16-18 year olds recently released from detention, by offering structured classes, workshops and training sessions. Our grant was to help underwrite a new program for young women.

Friends currently has 7 full time staff daily at Rikers connecting teens to post-released programs and offering help in educational (re-entry into high school, GED classes) and job employment.
