Created in 2011 to address the unmet needs of indigent immigrant youth, Safe Passage believes that no child should stand alone without counsel in immigration court. (SP Counsel is pro bono). Safe Passage also conducts Know Your Rights presentations and Citizenship Clinics for families. WellMet’s $20,000 grant in 2015 will be used to expand and grow its Safe Passages in Schools program, specifically in a Washington Heights public high school.
