FH guided newly-arrived Haitian students, ages 14-21, into high schools that will meet their special needs (poor language and literacy skills typically). There are only a limited number of high schools that offer SIFE (English Language Learner) programs, so FH provided the information and often the representation for the family on how to get their children into these programs. Our grant was for general operating expenses.
